Day 01 - Arrival in Cochin

Meet the Earthbuilder representative upon arrival in Cochin and drive towards Certified Earthbuilder resort to check-in and relax.

Day 02 - Cochin – Idinjamala (175 km / approx. 04 hours)

Visit Idinjamala Fairtrade Organic Farm

Activity tour that includes participation and observation of cardamom and coffee farm processing (depending on the seasons), fairtrade activities, poly house vegetable and vanilla cultivation, natural walk and trekking with a tribal guide and evening cultural show (fusion program) and local farm visits. Spices cultivated in these areas include pepper, clove, cardamom, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric, vanilla and curry leaves. The tranquil and fragrant air of Idinjamala is mesmerizing. Spend the night in a Certified Earthbuilder resort.

Day 03 - Full day leisure at Thekkady

After breakfast, drive to Thekkady (Periyar) and on arrival check-in at the Certified Earthbuilder resort. Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of the Periyar. Set high in the ranges of the Western Ghats in Kerala, is the Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve. Periyar wildlife sanctuary has a picturesque lake at the heart of the sanctuary. Herds of playful wild elephants have made Periyar Lake their favourite haunt for frolicking in the water. They can be seen bathing and swimming here. Enjoy a boat ride on the lake to view wildlife at close quarters. Other inhabitants of Periyar include the leopard, wild dog, barking deer, mouse deer, Nilgiri langur, bonnet macaque, sambhar, porcupines, squirrels, gaur (Indian bison), wild boar and sloth bear.  In the evening, watch a traditional show of Kalaripayattu, the martial art from Kerala. Return to the Certified Earthbuilder resort for overnight stay. Spend the night in Thekkady.

Day 04 - Thekkady – Kumarakom (125 km / approx. 3.5 hours)

After breakfast, check-out and visit the Plantrich Fairtrade Spice processing factory in Manarcadu. Enjoy a great cup of Cafe de Monde coffee at the Coffee Cupping Lab. Buy Fairtrade spices, coffee or dehydrated tropical fruits to gift to your near and dear ones back home. After your Spice Experience Tour, proceed to Kumarakom – a charming emerald peninsula jutting into the picturesque Vembanad Lake dotted with innumerable traditional country rafts, boats and canoes. The fresh water of the lake flows into the mainland, making a labyrinth of lagoons, canals and waterways. Spend the rest of the day at Certified Earthbuilder resort in Kumarakom.  In the evening, explore the Kerala Backwaters on a sunset cruise through the Vembanad Lake. Overnight stay in Kumarakom.

Day 05 - Full day leisure at Kumarakom

After breakfast, enjoy a full day of leisure at Kumarakom. You could visit a coconut farm at R-Block famous for bio-saline farming. R-Block and many other island villages in this region had been reclaimed from the Vembanad Lake and are protected by dikes akin to those in Holland. Hence farming in this village is unique as it belongs to an area which has the lowest altitude in India. It is one of the few places in the world where farming is done 1.2 to 3.0 meters (4 to 10 ft) below the sea level.

Return to your Certified Earthbuilder resort where you may enjoy traditional Ayurveda massages or enjoy a cooking demo of an ethnic dish locally with extra cost.

Day 06 - Kumarakom – Mararikulam (30 km / approx. 1 hour)

After breakfast, drive to Mararikulam. Mararikulam is one of the best beaches in Kerala offering an idyllic beach stay experience. Marari beaches are good for swimming and very private. Arrive and check-in to your Certified Earthbuilder resort. Unwind at the Certified Earthbuilder resort the rest of the day. Overnight in Mararikulam.

Day 07 - Relax in Cochin

After breakfast, drive to Cochin which is an amalgam of medieval Portugal, Holland and an English village grafted onto the tropical Malabar Coast. Enjoy city tour covering Mattancherry Palace which was gifted to the King of Cochin by Portuguese in 1555, the Jewish Synagogue which is almost 500 years old, Chinese fishing nets, local spice markets followed by a performance of Kathakali, a classical art form of Kerala. Later in the evening, return to the Certified Earthbuilder resort for overnight stay.

Day 08 - Departure from Cochin (30 km / approx. 1 hour)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Cochin airport for return flight back home.
