eSeva – A Big Hope for Small Farmersplantrich
Digitising Growth for Farmers
Empowering farmers has always been the goal of Manarcad Social Service Society, a Fairtrade co-operative of farmers from Idukki. The flash floods in August 2018 in Kerala affected the people of Kerala and the farmers of Idukki were one of the worst affected due to countless landslides and their proximity to the dams. Their crops, livestock, valuables, farming equipment, homes and even documents were washed away.
Rehabilitation would be an easier process had they been able to save their identity cards, bank passbooks, farm records and insurance records. These hardworking farmers lack computer literacy and hadn’t digitized their essential documents.
Manarcadu Social Service Society has identified computer literacy, electronic communication and digitization as one of the core needs of the farming communities in these remote high-range villages plans to introduce 100 ecentres named eSeva digital booths in Idukki.
The eSeva booth in each village, will be operated by a computer literate woman. These efacilitators called eSevamahila will help the farmers to legitimise their documents, apply online for processing their multiple applications and even let them stay up to date on the weather situation. This eSeva booth can also send information to farmers’ mobiles. The facilitator could contact any disaster management team online with this digital facility.
If we have 100 such village eSeva booths, our MASS Central office server will get all information. The Mass Central office at Kottayam can facilitate immediate consultation with experts and give solutions to villages where help is required. These eSeva booths will digitally facilitate Pest and Disease management, children’s higher education and online calls making communication and day-to-day life easier.
Come, join hands with us to digitize growth and create hope for small-scale farmers in Idukki.
